How
about some very simple tips for reducing your car’s fuel consumption? (A) A
clean car actually produces less wind
drag than a dirty one. (B) Gas is, well, a gas, which means it can easily
evaporate if you don’t securely
tighten your gas cap. (C) Keep
an eye on your tachometer, or RPM gauge.
The less RPMs you’re turning, the better mileage you’re getting. Watching the
gauge will help you avoid fast starts and stops and unnecessary acceleration
that reduces your MPG. (D) Properly aligned,
balanced, and aired tires can improve your mileage by around 2MPG.
(E) No need to roast while driving in this spring and summer’s heat by not
running you’re a/c. You’re a/c does cost you about 4MPG, but the wind drag
caused by opened windows
at highway speeds
results in about the same
reduction. |
