 THE
BEST TOY BOX EVER
Did you ever play
"dress up" when you were little? Don't let your kids or
grandkids miss out on this fun. Scavenge your own closet, yard sales and
thrift stores to put together a fun collection of clothes, hats, shoes, gloves,
scarves, jewelry and purses. And let the boys in on the act, too - include ties,
hats, caps and other "guy" duds. |

HANG 'EM!
I'm all for
cleanliness, but why not re-use your bath towel before throwing it in the laundry? The biggest
reason towels "sour" is because they're folded over a towel rod or
draped over an shower curtain rod. Clothespin your towel to a coat hanger
or, better yet, a clothes hanger with clips made on it. This way
the towel hangs
full-length. Leave your shower curtain (or door) open and hang
the towel in the opening, allowing it to air-dry more quickly. Once it's dry (or if
guests drop in), hang hanger and all on the bar inside your tub/shower - or
simply pull the door or curtain shut with the towel still on the inside of the
bar or shower door frame.
For multi-person
households, write the name of each household member on his own hanger and let
each person take responsibility for getting a few extra uses out of his bath
towel. |

HOMEMADE
PET SHAMPOO
This
homemade pet shampoo helps prevent dry itchy skin and
adds gloss to the coat. Here are the ingredients: (1)
8
oz. of Dove liquid dishwashing detergent;
(2) 2 oz. of
glycerin
- buy it in any pharmacy; (3) 4 oz.
white vinegar;
and (4) 8 oz.
water.
Mix well and store in a labeled container. This is very
concentrated, so a little goes a long way. Make
sure you rinse your pet thoroughly because soap residue
can cause itching. And like all soap products, avoid
getting it in your pet's eyes. |

THIS
MONTH'S PASSAGE
“So
Herodias held a grudge against him, and wanted to kill him..."
(Mark 6:19, HCSB)
John the Baptist hadn't minced his words when he spoke
out against Herod's marriage to Herodias, whom he had taken from his brother
Philip. His stance had landed him in prison, but Herod's knowledge that John
was a righteous man kept him from doing further harm to his prisoner. But Herodias, on the other hand, refused to let go of the anger John's outspokenness
had stirred within her. She waited and plotted, stewed and schemed, and on
Herod's birthday used her daughter to get her what she wanted: the head of John
the Baptist on a platter.
All of us need to be very careful about
harboring grudges. Don't waste
time holding ill feelings against another person. In Mark 11:25, Jesus reminds
us:
"And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone,
forgive him, so that your Father in heaven will also forgive you your
wrongdoing."
I don't know about you, but I can't afford to hold grudges
- my own life requires too much forgiveness! |
