A new company is blowing all other cell phone service deals out
of the water with their $19 a month
unlimited talk,
text, and
data package. It's
Republic Wireless
and they operate on the Sprint network with great
coverage nationwide. Currently they offer one phone - the
LG Optimus Smartphone -
which is capable of switching from using a regular cell phone
network to wi-fi to make calls. Nothing short of awesome!
$199 gets you the
phone and your first month's service. Each month thereafter is
$19 (plus applicable
taxes). You own the phone outright - no contract, no overages,
no termination fees; just full service at a super low rate and a
30-day money back guarantee. (NOTE: Republic is currently sold
out of slots for new customers; register on their site to be
notified some time in early to mid-2012 when more openings
become available.) |

START SAVING NOW!
If you aren't already putting money into a
401K or some other type of retirement fund, start now. The
younger you begin, the less money it takes to build a
comfortable retirement. How much difference can a few years
make?
If from age 25 to 35 (10 years) you put
$5,000 a year into a 401K with an 8% compound rate
of return, you'd have around $800,000
when you retired at age 65 -
that's if you never paid another penny in after
age 35! But let's say you
decide to wait until you're 45
and started doing this same thing; assuming the rate of return
was the same, you'd have a grand total of
$170,000 at age 65.
Tighten your spending belt now and you'll reap great benefits
later.

BECOME A BROWN BAGGER
I've
asked this question to many an audience: If given the choice
between a burger and fries or a cruise, which would you choose?
No one has ever told me they'd prefer the burger and fries! But
truth is, your daily choices may be saying the contrary. Those
little stops to buy just a coffee or maybe a biscuit, too, en
route to work; those snacks and drinks from the vending
machines; those inexpensive lunches you grab during workdays -
they really add up!
If you're working
outside the home 5 days a week and doing the things I just
described, you're spending in the neighborhood of
$2,500 a year on
those little privileges, an amount that would pay for one
humdinger of a cruise! If two people in the same household are
doing this, you're talking $5,000 a
year or enough money to pay cash for a car within
a few years, even after allotting $2 per person per day
in your grocery expense to add in extra goodies like canned
drinks, snack foods, and sandwich items for work lunches.
Life is
about choices. Make smart ones. |

WALNUT
FUDGE COOKIES
Whip these treats up in no time! Mix together
1½
cups confectioners sugar;
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder; and
1/8 teaspoon salt. Blend in
2 eggs whites (unbeaten, room temp),
1/2
tsp. vanilla extract; and 1 cup of chopped walnuts. Stir just
until blended. Cover a large baking sheet with aluminum foil
(for easy cleanup) and spray with nonstick spray. Drop spoonfuls
onto the sheet and bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for about
14 minutes. Cool and serve. Makes about 20 cookies. Nut allergy?
Leave out the walnuts. |

START YOUR OCCASIONS LIST
I’ve received emails
from so many people who’ve started
occasions lists after reading about them in my books
and all say they’ve cut their gift-spending by
50 to 75 percent
while buying nicer gifts in the process! What’s an occasions
list? Each year immediately after Christmas, take a blank sheet
of paper and, down the left side – by hand or on your computer –
list the names of every person you plan to buy a gift for all
year long. Out beside the names, abbreviate information like
birthdates, sizes, graduation dates, marriage dates, favorite
colors, etc. At the end of your list, add these three
categories: miscellaneous bridal teas, baby teas, and
graduations.
Keep the list with
you and, every time you’re out shopping, look for items to fill
your list. This way you’re spreading the expense over the entire
year and able to selectively land the best deals and
avoid credit card debt. Each
time you buy a gift, note it beside the recipient’s name and
write the person’s name on the bag before you tuck it away in
your designated gift space or closet. |

“Owe nothing to
anyone – except for your obligation to love one another.”
(Romans
12:8a, NLT)
Of all people on this planet, believers should be the ones who
are the best money managers – after all, it’s God’s money, His
blessings, that have been entrusted to us. Stop using credit
cards to stretch out payments on things you can’t afford.
Whatever you owe, pay it; and pay it before or when the payment
is due. And work toward owing nothing “…except your obligation
to love one another.” |
